1. Compostable Packaging

The compostable bags are made from bio-based sources, including sugar cane, which make the bags completely compostable and can disintegrate within a year in compost. The compostable period can be reduced to be even faster if the levels of warmth, moisture and air exposure are ideal.
Dehydrated meals that are contained in compostable bags must be cooked in a pan and not in the bag like other Firepot or dehydrated meals in general. Firepot aims to develop a fully compostable range of meals that can also be cooked conveniently in the packet in the future. Developing this ability will be a sophisticated and significant advancement in technology in the dehydrated foods industry and improvement to our environment because more consumers will choose to purchase dehydrated meals that are in compostable bags since the consumers can cook the meals in the bags while reducing impact on the environment!
It’s terrifically easy and convenient to prepare a compostable Firepot meal. Each pouch comes with clear instructions on water levels and cooking options on the back of the pouch. Simply prepare the food in a pan with water, stir and enjoy.
Please remember: do not try to fill the pouch with boiling water to cook your meal. The nature of the compostable packaging means it will begin breaking down immediately.
It’s also incredibly easy to dispose of the packets. To dispose of your pouches in an environmentally-friendly way, we recommend that you either:
- Place them in compost: the pouches are certified for home and industrial compost, and meet food regulation requirements in Europe and the USA*. The ideal conditions for compost include warm temperatures and exposure to air. The composted materials can then be used as fertiliser.
- Throw them away in household waste: Not everyone has access to compost facilities. While throwing your compostable pouch into common household waste means it will end up in landfill, it will still compost down to nothing in time. It can take plastic over 500 years to break down.
Please note: Do not put these packets in your recycling bin because they aren’t recyclable. Also, please don’t bury them outdoors, as they need guaranteed warmth, moisture and air to decompose quickly.
2. Handmade Using Natural Ingredients
