Wow! Loved this meal. Really tasty - a rich, earthy, mushroomy delight - and a real treat to find a vegetarian meal that's not curry and not full of soya. Frankly wish my own homemade risotto tasted this good. Very easy to make - just add hot water, seal the bag and wait 15 mins. I was worried I might accidentally knock it over whilst I pottered round the tent waiting for it to cook but the bag itself is fairly stable with a very good seal. At 400ml it requires slightly more water than some meals I've had but it has helpful measures marked out on the side to ensure you add exactly the right amount and the end result is the perfect balance between juice and rice (I certainly didn't find it soupy at all). Highly recommended.
Great experience all round. Really good service, clear information and speedy delivery. Will definitely use again.
Finally got to try the meal.
Very filling, not too salty, slightly glutinous but quite tasty.
Portion size spot on.
I'd buy it again.
O.K. possibly my method of preparing the meal didn't allow the food to be at its best I'll let you be the judge of that. I prepared it according to the instructions in a vacuum flask. It was then allowed to cook for 5 hours before consumption. When I did eat it I found that the rice had melded together to give a consistency more like couscous than rice. I also found that some of the mushrooms had the not so subtle texture of chewiness bordering on rubberiness. Not at all pleasant and I only ate about a third of it to stave off a potential hypo (I'm a diabetic.). When trying to scoop out the remains from the vacuum flask 4 hours later it was just a glutinous mass. I will state that I have prepared quite a few other dehydrated meals this way with much more appetising results. I'd give this a rating of 0 if I could!
